An important antique traditionnal dress of Bedouin women from South Syria. Late 19th, early 20th century. Very large winged sleeves. The proportions seem to be excessive, but when the dress is worn it's very practical and is in keeping with the requirements of a mobile lifestyle. Superb magenta raw silk, in very good conditions, no apparent stains. Measuring about 130 cm. ( 51.18" ) in height and 82 cm. ( 32.28" ) armpit to armpit. The circumference below is ca 194 cm. ( 76.37" ).

A superb antique silk nomads Abaye, from Syria. Rare sample, late 19th, early 20th century. Cream silk embroidered with metallic thread, almost worn. The border are decorated with silver threads. An exceptionnal antique embroidered table-cloth, from Syria.  Early to mid 19th century. Ligth brown silk embroidered with pink and dark pink silk threads. Purple silk decor all around. Seriously worn with some holes, stains and old repairs but still an excellent piece and a Museum sample for collectors ! Reversible embroidery ( the pictures show the both sides ). A fine old women's short jacket with couching , from Beit Tima ( Golan ), in Syria. Early 20th century. Made of violet velvet it's decorate with embroidery using gilt threads. Lining is a red cotton. A lovely old " Choli "  from Afghanistan. This very decorative piece was the upper part of a dress. It's made of different pieces of old textiles, gracefully assembled and decorated with small glass beads and coins ( local coins dated from 1985 to 1989 ). A fine sample, worn by intensive tribal use. Second half of the 20th Century. It measure about 44 cm. by 27 cm. ( 17.32" by 10.62" ).

A fine old  nomad silk and wool " milking apron " from Hauran, in South-Western Syria. Dark red silk with black and white decorations, with a tablet-woven belt attached. The tablet weaving is a very old technics, used to make this sample. The pictures are showing the both sides of the piece. The belt is ligthly worn by places but overall in good conditions. The apron is fine, with some stains litghly noticiables. Acquired before 1985. A rare old Bedouin women's dress  from the Hauran, Southwestern Syria, (from Damascus to Jordan ). 20th century. The sleeves and the chest are hand embroidered. The sleeves are of the same colour on each sides, representing a small flower. Early to mid 20th century, with the signature and the mark ( two lions ) of the master and his workshop. A beautiful antique wowen Sash for men, from North Syria. A Sash is a large and colorful band of material worn around the body, running around the waist, mainly from the Kurdish men. This sample is probably an imitation of Kashmiri work, made in Aleppo, early 20th century. In good conditions, worn by years of traditionnal use. The back is made of black cotton. A rare old body cloth from Sema or Chang Tribes, in Nagaland, Northeast India. Black, purple and green design, decorated with cowrie shells and dangles made up with red glass beads, shells and brass pipes. The black and red bands are painstakingly hand embroidered and are a great example of artistic skilfuliness of the embroideresses.
